How Does Payment Work?

Payment is divided into 2 parts. I ask for a 50% deposit in order to book your project start date and the remaining final balance before the site is launched. I accept PayPal or credit card payments.

Do I Need a WordPress Host?

Yes! Self-hosted WordPress requires that you rent the space in which your website will live (host) and give it a unique address (domain). I recommend SiteGround* as your WordPress host. They have affordable rates, quick speeds and awesome customer service. They also offer a free domain to new customers for one year! Otherwise, and afterward, your domain will cost you about $10 a year. Hosting will cost an average of $100 a year.
Check out my tutorial on how to set up your domain and hosting with SiteGround.

What About SEO?

I don’t claim to be an SEO expert, but I will consult with you on some SEO best practices and how to implement them on your site. I will also install a wonderful SEO plugin and provide an in depth tutorial on how to use it.

How Long Will My Project Take?

We will work together on your branding and web project for about 10 weeks. (A branding only project will take about 4 weeks, a web only project will take about 8 weeks). The timeline is used as a guide to keep us both on track and ensure we can launch your new brand and website in a timely fashion. It’s important you have time set aside in your schedule while we are working together to collect content, provide feedback, etc.

What Do You Need to Get Started?

First things first, I will need you to complete my Branding and Planning Questionnaire. This helps me gain a better understanding of your business, your brand, and the goal of your website. It is also your responsibility to provide all the content and images on your site before we begin the design process. I recommend working with a professional photographer for on-brand, cohesive images. Stock photography is also a great alternative.

You will also need to purchase a domain and hosting plan. Read my tutorial here for help.

What Kind of Support is Included?

Support is provided at no additional cost for the 2 weeks following your site’s launch. Afterward, you may purchase a Monthly Maintenance Plan to keep your site updated, backed up and secure. A limited number of Content Design Retainer spots are also available upon request if you need some extra help making regular updates to your site or creating graphics for social media.

Can I make changes to my site?

Your WordPress theme will be completely custom, built with your needs in mind. Each page will be neatly labeled so you can edit text and photos easily – no code necessary! I will also provide you with a video tutorial specific to your site so you can always go back and watch as a reference.

What if I need more than 5 pages?

My web design packages includes 5 page templates, but this does not mean your website is limited to only 5 pages! A page template refers to the unique layout and structure of the page and it is likely that several of your site’s pages may share the same template.  For example, if your business offers multiple services and you’d like each service to have its own page, you’ll probably use the same template for each service page. The layout of the pages will remain the same, it’s just the content that will differ. If you do indeed need more, each additional page template will cost $250.

⠀
👉🏼 Make sure your branding is on point. ⠀
Branding is way more than just your logo. It's an entire (strategically designed) visual identity. Having brand elements like a variation of logos, type system and color palette will allow your designer to create a website that's consistent with your brand.⠀
⠀
👉🏼 Know your goal. ⠀
A jaw dropping, on brand website is always desirable - but what's the real GOAL here? To sell twice as many products? Grow your email list? Book triple the amount of projects as last quarter? You'll get the most out of your new website with a clear, specific goal in mind that your designer can help you to achieve. ⠀
⠀
👉🏼 Have professional photos ready to go.⠀
Your photography can seriously make or break your website. Whether you hire a professional, use stock imagery, or take them yourself...make sure you have plenty of high-res, on brand images. Your web designer will seriously thank you for this. ⠀

DOES YOUR BRAND HAVE VALUES?⠀ ⠀ As I've DOES YOUR BRAND HAVE VALUES?⠀
⠀
As I've been working on the rebrand for Scout Design Co, I've been thinking about the values and principles I want at the core of my business. For me those are:⠀
⠀
💫 Designing with intention⠀
⠀
💫 Cultivating connection through branding⠀
⠀
💫 The beauty in simplicity ⠀
⠀
⠀
If you want to truly resonate and connect with your audience (and you do if you want to make more sales!) strategic, purposeful design is essential. And your purpose stems from your VALUES. ⠀
